As
the Abbey scandal died, Crowley's fortunes began to decline and
he spent the remainder of his life wandering his homeland, hopelessly
addicted to various drugs and supported by a scattering of followers
spread through out the globe. He died on December 1st, 1947, and
was cremated in Brighton, England.
At his
funeral, selections of his work were read, thoroughly shocking the
Brighton locals. This final scandal caused the town council to hold
an emergency meeting to make sure that such a ceremony would never
take place in their town again.
